On August 25, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) set new prices for gold and silver jewelry, effective from 10 a.m. that day. According to the latest rates, one bhori of 22‑carat gold jewelry, including VAT, is selling for over Tk 247,000. Traditional gold jewelry is priced at around Tk 166,000 per bhori.

China is the world’s largest producer of gold, accounting for about 10 percent of global output, according to the World Gold Council. Russia, Australia, Canada, and the United States are also among the top producers. African countries such as Ghana, Mali, and South Africa play a significant role in global supply as well.
